Glad to hear that I helped someone out Tom! ;-)

I actually had been running NeoOffice, then I switched to OpenOffice when the new version came out (I'm not sure if the new NeoOffice version has been released yet). But then, out of the blue, I had a friend tell me that he could get me a copy of Microsoft Office Mac for $35 (legit) so I had to go with that. Microsoft products are so familiar to me, it's hard to say no to them.

Let me know how NeoOffice works out for you.

After just switching from a pc for 8 years to a Mac book pro I debated which office format to go with. After reading your review and checking things out I think my choice has been made to go with NeoOffice.
Thank you

You can download Quicksilver from Blacktree's website. I would add the link in the comment, but you comment form does not allow links.

You may also want to check out ScribeFire for Firefox. That is, if you use Firefox. I am actually partial to Safari, but ScribeFire is a good extension and best of all, it is free.

I'm the same way. I organize all of my photos into folders by date/date range. I love how Picasa allows you to keep your own structure.

So far, I'm not a very big fan of iPhoto. They try to simplify it TOO MUCH. Which is a good thing for the not so savvy computer user, but for the more advanced users like you and I, programs like iPhoto are over simplified in my opinion.

I really hope Picasa for Mac is released soon! Otherwise, I'll have to continue to use my PC to manage all of my photos.

I'm a big fan of Google Picasa when it comes to photo organizing so I'm a bit worried about how will I manage to deal with Picasa not supporting mac.

What do you think? Is iPhoto ok? I always preferred organizing my photos into folder more.

Me too was some time ago impressed with things I could do in Windows Live Writer. The thing I have loved the most was live preview of how post will actually look like on my blog. With time and some new versions I stopped appreciating it so much. I have always had problems as my native language is Slovene (Slovenia/EU) the check spell wasn't supported. On the other hand I get the best check spell there is in my Firefox browser so this was a big + for posting directly in my wordpress.

I'm moving to iMac in some three weeks so this was the reason I come to your blog. Ecto looks promising. With the new wordpress 2.7 there will be even less reasons for me to use offline posting app.

Scott -

That's very true! I wish McDonalds in US would start offering WiFi... I'm hooked on their iced coffee now, so having WiFi access inside McD's would be great! I completely agree with what you said, the more places that start to offer WiFi access, other will have to match it to keep their business up.

In the UK a growing number of outlets are beginning to provide free WiFi. McDonalds were the starting point with most McD's in the UK offering free surfing. Of course when one company makes a move like this the others inevitably have to match it before long....
